So you wanna be in show business?? Do you think that you or your children have talent but don't know how to get your foot through the door?? Now's your chance to learn how to act from a real pro! Students who have attended Zaid’s classes are confident in their talents and their ability to land the part in an audition.
Chicago native, Zaid Farid earned his B.A. Degree in Theater from Eastern Illinois University, studied with Paul Sills at Second City, Viola Spolins Players Workshop, the Goodman Theater, and was a mainstay on the Chicago theater scene. He’s worked with such notables as John Malkovich, Dennis Farina, and Bill Petersen (CSI); and directors Garry Marshall, Oscar Winner Andrew Davis, and Arthur Penn of "Bonnie and Clyde", "Little Big Men"' and "Four Friends" where Zaid played the role of Rudy.
Zaid is also a writer whose credits include the Norman Lear Sitcom "E/R Emergency Rooms" where he worked with George Clooney. He conceived, co-wrote, and starred in the title role of "Riffin Wit Semple"' adapted from the works of Langston Hughes; also wrote, co-produced, and co-starred in the film "Prayer"; and was on the Silver Screen with Eddie Murphy, Charlize Theron, and Will Smith, among many others. Zaid was most recently seen on Showtime’s "Weeds", "My Name Is Earl"', and "Scrubs", as well as national commercials for Walgreens and Audi. Zaid is currently appearing in the Movie "Role Models", and will soon be appearing in the new hit show "Better off Ted"
We're proud to announce that his following beginner classes are now available:
1. Group acting classes for adult beginners.
2. Group acting for teens 13-15 and 16-18.
3. Group acting for seniors who need a creative outlet, entertainment, like to rub elbows with the famous or soon-to-be famous, or who just want to have fun.
4. Acting for dancers and models who want to take their careers to the next level and be ready to audition when the break comes.
5. Private coaching for all classes by appointment only.
Class sessions focus on several criteria, such as scene study, cold readings, technique, drama, comedy, improv, monologues, how to build a character, how to audition for film, TV, and commercials, how to get an agent, how to land the role, and he shares many other insider tips and tricks. Zaid also produces plays and scenes for his students to perform in front of their family, friends, and industry-related guests (agents, casting directors, A.D.s etc).
Most of Zaid's group classes are held 8 to 10 pm on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Day time hours are available for seniors; Saturdays and Sundays after 5 pm for private coaching by appointment.
