Introduction to Middle Eastern Rhythms

A DVD by Drumming Master Issam Houshan, made specially for percussionists and belly dancers!

Learn all about basic doumbeck drumming skills using proper arm and hand positions, a plethora of common Mid-East rhythms and, of course, expert technique as only Issam can explain and demonstrate.

DVD extras include a dance and drum performance by Issam and Sonia, and a special documentary about Issam's visit to Damascus, Syria, to discuss the origin of his art.

Issam has played for singers and dancers such as Cheb Mami, Ragheb Alama, Samara, and Haweda Al Hashem. He was also the featured drummer for Sting on his “Desert Rose” tour, and continues his tours around the world with Bellydance Superstars.
