Pronounced "ee-lee ee-lee" (plural and singular), and also known as Polynesian castanets, percussion pebbles, and lava rocks, these ancient Polynesian rhythm implements are sold in sets of 4 (two for each hand).
Traditionally, they are played by hula dancers to add a special percussion accompaniment to their dances.
"Natural" rocks, washed and matched as closely as possible re size and weight, are $5.
To help keep large troupes of dancers from mixing up their matched sets with those of their partners, we offer sets painted with their own separate designs for $6.00, as pictured.
Please email us to order the designed or painted sets, as this site page will not process multiple prices. Also, specify "flowers", "palm trees", "solid black", or "tapa print" patterns in your email.
