How to Organize Your Hula Programs

Written for advanced Hawaiian dance students, this booklet describes how to choose appropriate hulas for every theme event and in what order to present them.

Although most luau clients typically request multi-island demonstrations beyond Hawaii (i.e. Samoa, Societies, Cooks, Tonga, etc.), it's important to know how to organize and achieve maximum diversity in mood, energy, era, tempo, staging, and audience participation segments for those customers who wish to enjoy Hawaii's "hula-only" programs.

Also includes written choreographies for the songs "Magic Islands" (great for romantic luaus such as weddings, anniversaries, and engagements), "Aloha Gram" (for the silly, speedy gram typically delivered during office hours), "Hip Hop Hula" (a must for teen themes), "Kang Ding Ku'ipo" (to add an Oriental flavor to the presentation; also great music for a Japanese fan dance or Chinese long silk routine), and "O'Brien Has Gone Hawaiian" (St. Patty's Day luaus).
